What to think about when you need a website. Part 1.

Potential clients often ask us what they need to think about before we meet.
Here are some tips and things to think about which will make getting a website designed a painless process.

What do you want your website to do?
This sounds really simple but often clients don’t think through the purpose of the website the want to create.  Do you want visitors to buy something, or learn something about your business?
Having an objective from the offset makes it easier to develop a site that does what clients need and what you want it to do.   Think about the primary aim.  It could be as simple as telling clients when your business is open & where it is.

What content are you going to use?
One of the biggest tips we give to our new clients is to collect the media you need for your site as early as you can.
Great photos often make the difference between an average website and a great one.  We can organise photography perfect for your site and your offline marketing material if you need it.
Text for your site varies hugely depending on what you are trying to achieve.  But its often worth looking at some other websites you like to get an idea of how much copy you’ll need.  Of course if copywriting isn’t your thing we can help there too.

What ‘look’ should your site use?
Browsing the web you will have visited sites with all sorts of different designs.  Some are super clean minimalist.  Some sites are packed with colour, images and textures.
Think about what matches your business sector.  What your existing branding looks like might be a factor if you plan on keeping it.  Our designers have experience with hundreds of design styles and can work with you to create the perfect style for your business.

We’ll soon be writing a second part with the next steps for getting your website off the ground.
